For New borns/infants:
➡️ Baby hiccups are very common, and they aren’t normally a problem.
➡️ Hiccups are most likely caused by irritation to the diaphragm, the muscle which lies at the base of the lungs. That’s when the muscle begins to undergo a cramp or a spasm.
➡️ Mostly it is said that when babies overfeed or gulp air while feeding, it causes the stomach to expand and rub against the diaphragm generating those hiccups.
➡️ For new borns, changing feeding positions, burping them more frequently, giving gripe water works very well.
For Toddlers:
➡️ The underlying reason is the same. However, a home remedy to get rid of the hiccup in the toddler that works wonders is:
➡️ Take a tea spoon of sugar and let the toddler chew it. Make him drink water after that. The hiccup vanishes.
